The organization’s mission is to foster excellence in philanthropy, to protect philanthropic freedom, to assist donors in achieving their philanthropic intent, and to help donors advance liberty, opportunity, and personal responsibility in America and abroad. Its members include individual philanthropists, families, and private foundations. The Philanthropy Roundtable served as the incubator for the Independence Project. With its support, Independence Project founders LTC (ret.) Daniel Gade and Thomas Meyer worked closely with leading veterans advocates, veteran-supporting organizations, scholars, and transitioning service members to design this program. The Philanthropy Roundtable also serves as the organizing body for the charitable foundations that fund the Independence Project.
